I am left unable to download anything from PSN (which I am paying for), play any games online or access any online content what so ever.
Note: I've always used my PS3 and PS4 over WiFi and intend to carry on using them that way. Please don't tell me to wire my PS4 to the network or buy powerline network plugs as this completely misses the point.
I have attached my iPhone's speed test results (test was run in the same location as my PS4) and above it my PS4's speed test results.

My Ps4 Is Slow Hardwired
I pre-ordered my PS4 from Amazon and recieved it on launch day. I've been very happy with my PS4 experience until a couple of weeks ago when my PS4's WiFi seemed to give up.
I have never moved the PS4 from it's current location, nor have I moved the 2 WiFi access points in my house. My broadband serves speeds up to 60mb and I get between 40 and 60mb on all other devices throughout my house.
When I first realised the PS4's WiFi was running slow I didn't really think much of it as I thought it might just be a bad period for my internet. But when I needed to download 'System Software: Version 1.60' some days later I realised just how bad it was.
I've been getting download speeds as low as 0.3kbps whereas the upload speed hasn't really changed, which makes me think that it may be a software fault and maybe performing a factory reset might fix it, although I would rather avoid doing this. Eventually after many failures and leaving the system on all day the 'System Software: Version 1.60' completed downloading.

My Ps4 Is Slow With An Ethernet Cable
Update: I have tried a database rebuild on the PS4 and allowed the PS4's IP to pass the router's firewall and NAT Type .. Still no luck.

- Hi, The PS4 speeds are estimates, so although they are ridiculously low from your test it doesn't necessarily mean you are receiving 0.3kbs all of the time. I have Virgin Fibre Optic (120Mbps) but I have never seen my PS4 / PS3 display a connection speed my iPhone can receive. Have you used a Wi-Fi scanner, maybe try changing the channel of your Wi-Fi. Do you still have your PS3, can it download successfully & quickly? What other devices are connected to your network when you attempt to download on PSN? Do you share your Wi-Fi connect with house mates / family members, is the connection secure? Do you always download during Peak Time? Does your ISP traffic shape? Some ISP's slow down your connection when you attempt to download large files during peak times, the DC Universe file is 6GB, if you delete that, do things speed up again? There are so many variables here, the list is endless.
- Hi Adycakes,The thing is, it was working and working fast and now over the past couple of weeks without anything changing on the LAN it barely works at all. I don't just mean the estimated download rates either. Loading the Playstation Store for example just took me over 3 minutes before I got a visible menu and the first time I tried I got a timeout error 'Cannot connect to the server within the time limit WV-33907-2'.My PS3 is working as it always has on the same WiFi connection as the PS4, no issues there. The WiFi is secure and is only shared by a couple of people at the most at any one time, it's usually just myself. I've been running tests while nothing else has been using the network anyway (off and on peak times). I have also disconnected the PS4 from the network to force all PSN downloads to stop and then resume only one, this is how I eventually got the system software update.I have even gone in to the router's web front end and disabled the PS4's IP address from the firewall and NAT type. I also enabled a game mode on the router but I doubt this would do anything when the PS4 is bypassing the firewall anyway. The only thing I haven't tried is to change the WiFi channel, I'll try this but I can't see that changing anything either as every other device works fine.
- Ok I've tried multiple channels and changed the SSID of the 5GHz connection to be different to the SSID of the 2.4GHz connection.Nothing I've tried so far has made any difference.I'm going to take my PS4 to my friend's house soon to test it there. He also has a PS4 so it should be pretty obvious at that point wether it's my PS4 at fault here or not.
- I have experienced the same issue, I have 100mbps down and 10 up and get the same type speeds you are getting ie kbps but ok upload speeds (which is pointless to me). The thing is I always used to run wired so I tried that but wired gives me strict nat ie 3 where wireless gives me 2 but crap speeds (I can't win). I have also had at least 4 application crashes last night being another one. I paid for AC black flag digital version 2 days ago last night got to 5% into the game and bang wont load anymore. Imho there is some serious issues with the PS4 as my xbox360 thats right next to it gets open nat and full speed (never had a single crash in 7 years). SONY DO NOT SEEM TO BE BOTHERED FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN, I mean they don't even try to help :/. I have also contacted Virginmedia for them to open required ports which the tech team did and has made no difference at all. Starting to regret my choice a little now and thats saying something.... just wish I hadn't spent over £200 on just 4 games, it's a joke sort it out sony :/
- Same here - I get great wi-fi speeds on all other wireless devices, yet the wi-fi speed on the PS4 is awful. And the fact that it constantly seems to want to update something or other just makes matter worse. I spent almost 12 hours updating it straight out of the box (seriously?! I thought I was paying for one that was ready to go) and have a 12 month playstation plus subscription which I now know I will never use.Waste of money buying games that need to be updated. At £50, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a finished product. Seriously thinking about getting rid.
- Ok, so this is what I've tried so far:
- Enabling DMZ on my router to enable my PS4's local IP address to bypass my router's firewall and NAT type
- Setting a different SSID for the 5 Ghz Wi-Fi channel to the 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi channel
- Testing on multiple Wi-Fi channels
- Removing my Apple Time Capsule and Apple Airport Express out of the equation by connecting directly to my router's Wi-Fi
- Connecting with a wire, which did give me ~ 60 Mbps. This does not solve my problem, but does however suggest that it's either my PS4's Wi-Fi chip that is faulty or some issue with my wireless connection
- Calling my ISP who logged in to my router and opened gaming ports
- Setting the PS4's DNS IP addresses to Google's public DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)
- Running speed tests with speedof.me through the PS4's browser (bypassing the PSN connected speed test)
Ok, so none of that worked, I am still getting speeds of 0-800 Kbps. I took my PS4 round to a friend's house to test it on his internet and Wi-Fi. This friend also has a PS4 so I could compare speeds on the same network. My PS4 worked fine on his Wi-Fi, getting speeds of ~ 20 Mbps, similar to his PS4 on the same network. So it's conclusive! It's not my PS4 at fault! .. or is it? ..The last thing I've tried is to turn off the 802.11n connection on my Wi-Fi at home and all of a sudden my PS4 starts reaching speeds of ~ 15 Mbps! I triple check this, turning 802.11n on and off again and again and it is definitely causing my PS4 to hit the higher speeds when 802.11n is switched off.So why did I get the higher speeds on my friend's Wi-Fi? .. Well he is using an older Apple Airport Express that is either running 802.11b/g if it predates March 2008 or 802.11a/b/g and draft 802.11n. Now if it's the later then I don't know if PS4s ignore draft 802.11n or not.My theory is that my PS4 has faulty 802.11n hardware. I'm guessing the hardware must still be working to some extent though because it seems to find the 802.11n signal and does successfully connect to it.Seems like Sony are using shoddy Wi-Fi chips in their PS4, they don't even support 5 Ghz yet! Apple supported 5 Ghz since Jan 2007 and have supported 802.11ac (gigabit Wi-Fi) since June 2013! Catch up next gen! :P - Thanks, I can confirm changing my wireless router setting from 802.11n to 802.11g has fixed my internet connection.
- You wouldn't happen to have a PX5 Turtle Beach headset would you?If so, try turning off the transmitter then testing the connection.I moved my transmitter on the other side of my PS4 and that fixed the problem. Ativador office 2019 365.
- Hi SNIPE_AT :Sniper:,I don't actually use a headset so it wasn't anything to do with that.I did however get a replacement PS4 curtesy of Sony after I told them everything I had tried and that my friend's PS4 worked fine on my WiFi when mine did not.Happy days! :smileywink:
- Hi Jason,I also have issues getting a decent 802.11n connection speed with my PS4 and the dual-band Airport Express router.Just for the record, now that you have a new PS4 console, can you confirm that you can get high speed connection using the Airport Express router (through 802.11n ?) ?Thanks
- Yea, I've the same issue here.0.2-0.3 kb/s with 100/100 Fiber optic inet, and the router are 3 meters away from the PS4 console, I'm not abel to get a wire! :(I'm starting to regret that I bought this PS4, Sure, I can take my computers inet cable to my PS4 but then my GF wont have any use for the PC meanwhile I play some PS4, GGWP!
- For me ites the same got this result on all my device, tabs, phone ect.. But on ps4 only 10 or 13 mb max and since the last ujpdate got the error ce-34848-o on all my game, dc universe, blacklight, watch dog.. Buy this device with camera and 4 games and if the problem isnt solve at the end of the month im going to sell it

Problem solved for your GF. :)- Or a £5 unmanaged ethernet switch..
- I had the same problem as you and it is very anoying because u cant do anything at all and I really dont know what to do
- I can confirm my PS4 replacement works great with my airport express.
- I had the exact same problem: SUPER slow WIFI only on my PS4 and when I connected the PS4 all the other devices in my house couldn't connect. I solved them both, here's how.Problem: super slow wifiSolution: on the router turn off the n band. I had mine set to broadcast on b, g and n. By setting it to only broadcast on b and g my wifi speeds increased dramatically (like from 3kb/s to 600kb/s)Problem: once connecting the PS4 all other devices had problems connecting to the netSolution: change the wifi band and setup a seperate wifi signal only for the PS4
- Same problem here changed all I could on WiFi settings but no luck in speeding up downloads taken an hour to download velocity 2x my ps4 wanting when I first bought which was day one aswell seriously considering selling up and getting xbox one if Sony don't do anything about this issue as a quick search in Google shows hundreds of people in same situation have changed my router on2 all available settings as well as downloading a WiFi scanner to determine the best channel and still no difference
- Well I'm screwed, Xfinity is my ISP and the only wifi modes I can choose from is 802.11 g/n or b/g/n. Every once in a while the connection on my PS4 is fine, but that only lasts about 20 minutes then it goes to unbearable speeds again.
I've always noticed my Playstation products seem to have a significantly slower DL speed than my Xbox and especially my PC, but at least on PS3 I could generally download a gig in 20 or so minutes. Despite my supposed 20mb/sec DL speed, here on the PSN trying to cross download Flower at this rate will literally take 2 days. I started the download 20 minutes ago and I'm at 12mb downloaded. I'm not sure what's going on, as just Downloaded the 300 mb system update in about 5 minutes, so i know it's not my connection -- but anything from the store is moving at an unbearably slow rate. Anyone else have this problem? What's the fix, because this is ridiculous. I have no physical games for the system yet as nothing looked too interesting at launch, but I can't even download the free to play titles. Please don't tell me fast PS4 DL speed is directly related to my buying PS+?
